 The 1st Annual Trunk or Treat on Main Street will be held in Rogersville on Wednesday, October 31st from 5-8pm.  Trunk or Treat is a safe alternative to trick or treating with lots of candy for everyone.  Main St. will be blocked off from Hasson to Brownlow and cars will be lined up down the street.  Participants are asked to decorate their trunks and load them with candy. Kids can trunk or treat throughout the evening while participating in various activities.

Activities will include;

Trunk or Treat cars will begin signup  at 4pm in front of the Hale Springs Inn and will line up on the north side of Main Street.  Trunk or treat will run from 5-8pm.  Registration forms can be picked up at the Mountain Star Mall or the Chamber office at US Bank or you can call Nancy at 272-2186

Pumpkin decorating contest – 6pm-7:30pm at the Local Artist Gallery – There will be free pumpkins for the first 200 children or you can bring your own small pumpkin.  Children that miss out on pumpkins can make Halloween crafts. Materials will be provided by the Rogersville Arts Council.   There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons and judging will take place at 7:30pm.  Call Debbie at 754-4495 for more information.

Pumpkin carving contest – Do some creative carving on your pumpkin and bring it to the Community Cup on Main St. on Monday the 29th until 6pm.  Pumpkins will be judged on creativity and skill and will be on display through the 31st in the Café window.  There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons.

Costume contest – Children will gather on the town square at 5pm for judging.  Ages 0-3 will gather by the Hale Springs Inn, ages 4-7 will gather in front of Colboch Price, ages 8-12  and 13-18 will gather in front of the Masonic Temple. Costumes will be judged on creativity and originality and first, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each age group.  Prizes will be donated by Mountain Star Mall, the Law Office of Jefferson Fairchild, and Cinema 4.

Spooky storytelling will be held at Ugly Mugs and will run from 6-8pm.  Bruce Campbel, Doc McConnell and Guerry McConnell will be the evening’s tellers.

Carnival games will be set up in the square from 6-8pm and will consist of  a Pumpkin Bean Bag Toss, Dragon Toss, Duck Pond  and Go Fish. 

Bank Robbery - At 7pm  gather at US Bank for a reenactment of a turn of the century bank robbery.

Hay Ride - From 5:30-7:30pm the Rogersville Parks and Rec will be running a hay ride from the Court House steps on Depot to Crockett Spring Park and back.

Fortune Teller – Lady Fatima, the fortune teller will be set up in the alcove at the Courthouse Annex and will tell fortunes from 6-8pm.

The downtown store windows will be decorated and merchants will be open that evening for your convenience.  The Heritage Lites will be selling drinks, cotton candy and popcorn.

This event is sponsored by the Rogersville Arts Council, Main Street Rogersville and the Chamber of Commerce to provide a safe and fun place for children to trick or treat.  If you live in an area where there are few trick or treater’s, bring your car downtown for Trunk or Treat.  Registration forms can be picked up at Mountain Star Mall or the Chamber of Commerce, 272-2186.  Fun for young and old alike…
